When designing your outdoor living space one of the first things to consider is your exterior flooring. After identifying the different zones of your design (seating area, outdoor kitchen area, firepit area, etc.), the next item to consider is what type of flooring will work best. The most commonly used materials are concert slabs or custom pavers.

Concert slabs are best used in areas where you may want an ultra-smooth surface and that will not require additional maintenance. Once the slab is poured and set it is very difficult to make and adjustments should your elevation shift over the next few years. In some cases, this is the perfect choice for a patio, poolside lounge area, or even a garage driveway.

Pavers are select stones or bricks that are arranged together in a special design and filled in with paver sand. They are then flattened to provide a leveled surface. Providing more design options, pavers can be arranged with natural stone, gravel, or bricks. They make beautiful patio floors, custom walkways, and dramatic home entrances. Because these are induvial stone pieces, should your elevation shift, repair is easy. The affected stone is removed, and the ground adjusted to remain level with the rest of your design.
