Rustic Lakeside

Cypress, Tx

Summary

Our clients were preparing for retirement and wanted to enjoy a landscape that would stay beautiful and functional for years to come. They enjoy gardening and love adding their own herbs and flowers throughout the yard, so we focused on creating a layout that feels welcoming, stable, and easy to navigate.

To provide long-term durability, we installed oversized reinforced concrete pavers with black star gravel, giving them a solid and comfortable surface to walk on. They often host their grandchildren and value time spent outdoors as a family, so every detail was chosen with that in mind.

Before and After

Front Yard

The front yard features a woodland-style design that complements the home’s partial shade exposure. We used mortared chopped stone edging in a tone that matches the natural stone of their Tuscan Hill Country–inspired home.

Front and Side Patios

For the front and side patios, we removed the existing tiles and replaced them with a brick veneer finished with a German smear, echoing the same materials used on the home’s exterior and interior.

Side Yard

Along the side yard, we created a part-shade native and herb garden complete with a custom trellis supporting evergreen wisteria that will drape gracefully overhead.

Backyard

In the backyard, we built a large patio extension using retaining wall block and travertine pavers to expand their hosting space. Two pollinator beds were added near the pool with matching stone so they can enjoy colorful blooms and visiting pollinators year-round.

Lighting

Finally, brass landscape lighting was installed throughout to softly illuminate the pathways and accent the trees and architecture at night.
